1. Learn to shut down the PS5
You can bluff this first tip. How hard can it be to turn off your console? I certainly didn’t spend 10 minutes trying to find an alternative, if that’s what you’re suggesting! It turns out that you need to press the PlayStation button once in the middle of the controller; Do not press and hold it down as you would have done on a PS4. After tapping that button, a menu pops up at the bottom of the screen and you will see the power icon on the right. The menu rotates around, so it’s quicker to go left.
You can also press the physical power button on the hardware, which is downward if you have it vertically or far away if your PS5 sits horizontally on your media console.
2. Transfer files and games from your PS4
If you are upgrading from PS4, you may want to transfer games, settings and other files to your new console. You will be prompted to do this during setup, but if you have left it, you can go back and do it later. Before starting, it is a good idea to turn both consoles shoulder to shoulder and turn them over with an Ethernet cable to connect (you can use Wi-Fi, but it will take longer).
When you’re ready go Adjustment On PS5, then System> System Software. Choose data transfer, Continue And pick up your PS4. When Prepare for data transfer Pop up, you need to press the power button on the PS4 for a few seconds until it beeps. Pick and choose what you want to proceed Start transfer.
3. See how long you have played a game
Now it is easier than ever to see how many hours you have spent playing PlayStation games. Select and choose your avatar at the top right of the PS5 home screen Profile, Again sport Tab. You’ll see the total playtime next to each game with the trophy progressing to the right.
4. Make sure you are playing a PS5 version of the game
While it is great that you can play PS4 games on the PS5, it can cause a bit of confusion at times. Some older titles have been enhanced for the new console, so you’ll want to make sure you’re playing the updated version for the best experience. Take a closer look at the game’s title on the home screen. Any PS4 version will say PS4 next to it. You can also scroll to the right and select Sports library, Then tap Sort and filter Icon on the left and filter your game Forum.
5. Tweak your controller settings
PS5 Dualdis controller Is excellent and represents a real step up from DualShock 4. The sense of the triggers and the range of vibrations add to the immersion and it changes dynamically in response to the on-screen action. The default settings suit me, but if you want to reduce the intensity of the vibration or trigger effect, the head Settings> Accessories> Controller. Since you can use your older DualShock 4 controllers to play PS4 games on the PS5, there is also an option here to reduce the brightness of their indicators.
6. Get more immersive sound with 3D audio
The PS5 has a headline feature 3D audio, which enables game developers to tie sound effects to the environment around you to really increase the illusion you create, but to take advantage of you have headphones or earbuds Is required to use. 3D audio is on by default, so Plug in headphones In your controller and you should hear the difference immediately, but you will want to test it through your ears Settings> Sound> Audio Output. Under the option of Enable 3d audio, Select Adjust 3D audio profile And choose from the five available levels that you like best.
7. Sports Astro’s room, Then delete it
Every PS5 comes with Astro’s room Installed and it is worth checking out. It’s positively loaded with fun 3D platformer PlayStation references that will give you a dose of warm and fuzzy nostalgia, but it also does a great job of showing what the new DualDisk controller is capable of. When you’re done with it, you can free up about 11 gigabytes of storage space by searching and deleting it Settings> Storage> Console Storage> Games & Apps. Don’t worry, you can always download it again for free PlayStation Store.
8. Get more storage space
One of the ways to improve the PS5 on the PS4 is with a lightning-fast solid state drive (SSD) for storage. Segmentation of games and a decrease in the need for duplicate data also means that game downloads should be small, but if you play too many games, you can quickly fill the 667 gigs still available. Sony has promised to activate the internal slot which allows you to add an approved SSD card in the near future. For now, you can plug an external SSD or HDD that supports USB 3.0 or higher into the USB port on your SS5. The catch is that you can only play PS4 games stored on that external drive.
9. Choose your game preset
You can save a little time to go to your preferences Settings> Saved Data> Game / App Settings> Game Preset. You can choose your favorite game difficulty, choose between display or graphical quality, and change camera movement for the first and third person, including the ability to set inverted controls by default.
