Blobr, the ‘no-code’ company turning APIs into products, raises €1.2M pre-seed – TechCrunch

Blob, A Paris-based startup working in the no-code space with technology to make it easier for companies to uncover and monetize their existing APIs, raising € 1.2 million in pre-seed funding.

The round is led by pan-European pre-seed and seed investor SeedCamp, with participation from New Wave, Keema and various angel investors. Blueb is also the first company to receive investment from New Wave – the new European venture capital firm co-founded by Pia d’Rieberne and Jean de la Rochebrocard – since V.C. Blobr, founded by Alexandre Airvault (CEO) and Alexandre Mai (CTO), aims to become the default “business and product layer” for the API. The idea is to enable product and business people to manage and monetize a company’s application programming interfaces without the need to use technical knowledge or more internal engineering resources. And by doing so, the startup believes that we will see more innovative uses of the API as business data and functionality are made accessible by more third parties to build on top.

“We believe that companies should stop thinking of APIs only as pipes and start manufacturing them as products to get their power,” says AirVault. “This means that APIs must be valued, optimized and managed with a user-oriented mindset, not just a tech”.

To make this product a reality, Blobr is designed to make product and business owners “data-sharing a profitable model”, reducing their dependence on technology. “I believe this approach is one that will take data exchanges to the next level”, he explains.

Bloom’s no-code technology already provides considerable functionality. From an existing internal API, you can filter confidential information or GDPR-related data; It is also possible to give different API outputs based on customer segmentation, so you only uncover the data that is needed; And the use of APIs can be added to a strip-based business model or monthly subscription.

Airvault says that the startup’s main competitors include API management solutions from Google, IBM, Axway and MuleSoft. “Those platforms are tailored to internal APIs, but are not thought of and optimized to manage APIs as products. He said that is tailored for technical people, while a no-code solution in the form of Blobber is built from scratch for product and business people so that technical people are not included in the equation.
